May 01 - 10  (Dekad 13)

              

        The tail-end of cold front will likely affect northern and central Luzon and the intertropical convergence zone over Visayas and Mindanao.  These areas will have mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms. The rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers and thunderstorms.  One tropical cyclone is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility.

        Moderate to occasionally strong winds from northeast will prevail over northern Luzon while light to moderate winds from east and southeast over rest of Luzon and Visayas.   Meanwhile, light to moderate winds from east and northeast will prevail over Mindanao.

 Rainfall deficit will still be experienced in most parts of the region and sustainable irrigation is essential  to the development of growing crops.

Insufficient rainfall is expected and maintenance of growing crops by watering and irrigating is needed to avoid or minimize damage to crops.

 Monitoring and controlling the persistence of insect pests and diseases on growing vegetable crops is essential to have a good harvest.

Incidence of  some insect pests and diseases are highly expected to persist. Spraying of appropriate insecticide, and irrigation and watering will be essential during the period.

Monitor fungal development in  stored grains, onion, garlic  and other seeds, and make necessary action if it persist to maintain its quality and market value.

Moisture supply could still sustain the growing crops over most parts  of the region, however, moisture deficit may likely be experienced over  southern part of the region.

Good growing condition is expected due to sufficient moisture supply over most parts of the region but monitoring of insect pests and diseases should always be done.

Good fruit harvest is expected, thus, extra care must be given due consideration to ensure its good quality and market value.

Normal fruit harvest is expected but rainfall deficit may likely prevail and watering or irrigating crops is essential to ensure successful crop harvest.

Good seasonal fruit harvest is expected, however proper handling in transporting fruits should be done to maintain its freshness and quality.
