SEVERE WEATHER BULLETIN NUMBER SEVENTEEN (FINAL)
TROPICAL CYCLONE ALERT: Tropical Storm "HENRY" (MATMO)
Issued at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, 23 July 2014

 

"Henry" has weakend into a tropical storm after crossing the landmass of Taiwan and is now outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

 

Location of Center:
(as of 4:00 a.m.)
520 km North of Basco, Batanes
or at 120 km West of Northern Taiwan
Coordinates: 25.1°N, 120.1°E
Strength: Maximum sustained winds of  110 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 140 kph
Movement: Forecast to move Northwest at 20 kph.

Forecast Positions/Outlook:

Thursday morning:
520 km Northwest of Basco, Batanes or

in the vicinity of Zheijiang, China

 
No Public Storm Warning Signal

 

"HENRY" will continue to enhance the Southwest Monsoon which will bring monsoon rains over Luzon and Western Visayas. Residents in these areas are advised to be alert against possible flashfloods and landslides.

 

    Moreover, fisherfolks and those with small seacrafts are advised not to venture out over the seaboards of Luzon and Western Visayas.

 

    Meanwhile, the Low Pressure Area (LPA) outside PAR was estimated at 1140 km East of Southern Luzon (14.0°N, 135.8°E).
