Championing Science, Technology, and Innovation at the 2025 NSTW
DOST-PAGASA joins this year’s National Science, Technology, and Innovation Week (NSTW), held in Laoag City from November 18 to 21, 2025, participating in various forums and exhibits.
The event kicked off with the Maghanda for Kids, where PAGASA Administrator Dr. Nathaniel T. Servando delivered an opening message. He was joined by Ms. Sharon Juliet M. Arruejo and Ms. Rosalie C. Pagulayan, who engaged young minds with discussions and activities on clouds, tropical cyclones, and flood.
During the DRRM Forum: Disaster Resilience Reimagined, Dr. Marcelino Q. Villafuerte II, Deputy Administrator for Research and Development, shared insights on climate data, heat index monitoring, and advisories. This was followed by Ms. Rosalie C. Pagulayan’s presentation on Flood and Early Warning Systems and Mr. Erie Estrella’s discussion on the installation and maintenance of Automatic Weather Stations (AWS).
Throughout the event, the agency also showcased its latest innovations at the science and technology exhibit. Featured technologies included the Impact-Based Forecasting and Warning System, CliMap Version 2.0, PANaHON, iHeatMAP, Ten-Day Forecasts, and interactive displays such as the automatic weather station (AWS), the mobile planetarium, and the flood simulator-AR terrain.
