Working together for clearer, more accessible public information
DOST-PAGASA supported state media in strengthening disaster risk communication by participating in the 2nd Reporting Workshop for Integrated State Media organized by the Presidential Communications Office through the Office of Assistant Secretary Allan C. Francisco, held on November 29, 2025 at the PTV Studio in Quezon City.
PAGASA experts Ms. Sharon Juliet Arruejo, Mr. Benison Jay Estareja, Ms. Rosalie Pagulayan, and Ms. Ana Liza Solis, provided lectures and facilitated workshops about the weather, flood, and climate. They shared their expertise and experiences with partners from the Philipine Information Agency (PIA), Philippine News Agency (PNA), Intercontinental Broadcasting Corporation (IBC-13), Philippine Broadcasting Service (PBS) - Radyo Pilipinas, and People’s Television Network (PTV).
Open discussions and interactive exercises were facilitated to help strengthen weather and hazard communication to the public, making it clearer, more relatable, and actionable, especially during critical situations. The participants also reflected on how the agency and media partners can better support communities in making safe and informed decisions.
Technological exhibits including the Flood Simulator/AR Terrain and the PANaHON interactive platform were also showcased during the workshop.
