DOST - PAGASA at the 2025 RSTW National Capital Region
DOST-PAGASA participated in the celebration of the 2025 Regional Science, Technology, and Innovation Week in the National Capital Region, held from November 24 to 26 at the Technological Institute of the Philippines, Quezon City.
Engr. Lorenzo Moron, Weather Services Chief of PAGASA National Capital Region represented the agency during the opening ceremony. The event carried the theme “Building Smart and Sustainable Cities and Communities,” and was attended by various science and technology institutions that showcased their latest innovations through discussions, tech bazaars, and exhibits.
The iHeatMap, DOST-PAGASA’s Interactive Heat Index Mapping and Prediction platform was featured in the TeknoLokal for Smarter Cities and Communities Forum, under the session titled Local Innovations for Smarter, Sustainable Cities. The featured innovation was presented by Mr. Mike A. Petaca, Weather Specialist from PAGASA Climatology and Agrometeorology Division.
Throughout the three-day event, the agency showcased its next-generation platforms for DRR, highlighting PANaHON and iHeatMAP using its Interactive Display Information System (IDIS). Promotional and other IEC materials were also provided to students and visitors at the exhibit.
