SPECIAL WEATHER OUTLOOK FOR THE CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS 2023
(22 December 2023 - 01 January 2024)


The weather systems that are likely to affect most parts of the country during the Christmas Holidays are the prevailing Northeast Monsoon (Amihan), the Easterlies, and the Shear Line.
December 22-26: Mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms are expected over the eastern section of Luzon due to the Shear Line, while the rest of Luzon will be partly cloudy skies with isolated light rains due to Amihan. Viasayas and Mindanao will have isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms due to Easterlies.

December 27-31: Eastern and Central Visayas, and the Northeastern Mindanao will have cloudy skies with rainshowers and thunderstorms due to the Shear Line. Luzon will experience partly cloudy with isolated light rains becoming mostly cloudy with rains over the eastern section due to Amihan. Meanwhile, the rest of Visayas and of Mindanao will be partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms due to Easterlies.

January 01, 2024: Mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms over the eastern section of Luzon due to the Shear Line, while the rest of Luzon will be partly cloudy with isolated light rains due to Amihan. Visayas and Mindanao will have isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms due to Easterlies.

Sea travelers are advised to exercise extra caution due to the surge of Northeast Monsoon, which may result to rough to very rough sea conditions, particularly over the seaboards of Luzon, Eastern Visayas, and Eastern Mindanao.
