DOST-PAGASA Launches iHeatMap: An Online Heat Index Monitoring Platform

As the Philippines experiences hotter, warmer, and drier seasons, various sectors are implementing measures to mitigate heat-related health risks. Public schools adjust schedules through class cancellations or hybrid learning, road works are rescheduled to cooler hours, and outdoor workers, such as traffic enforcers and street sweepers, are provided heat breaks for hydration and recovery. These initiatives require accurate and timely heat hazard information for effective execution.
To support these efforts, DOST-PAGASA has launched the Interactive Heat Index Mapping and Prediction (iHeatMap) platform, providing nationwide access to real-time heat index (HI) data. Key features include:

  • High-resolution, gridded heat index information for precise monitoring.
  • Color-coded alerts indicating caution to dangerous heat conditions.
  • Hourly forecasts for improved accuracy and reliability.
  • User-friendly interface optimized for desktop browsing.
